The story
In 1921 New York, Ewa, a Polish immigrant played by Marion Cotillard, is deceived into working in a burlesque house. Orlando, a magician portrayed by Jeremy Renner, attempts to rescue her and reunite her with her sister, Magda, who is detained at Ellis Island. Their efforts lead to conflict with Bruno, played by Joaquin Phoenix, who violently intervenes.
The cast includes Marion Cotillard as Ewa, Jeremy Renner as Orlando, and Joaquin Phoenix as Bruno. Angela Sarafyan appears as Magda. The film is directed by James Gray.
