Amazon ECS now provides real-time deployment observability in the AWS Management Console
Amazon ECS adds real-time deployment monitoring in the AWS console, consolidating progress tracking, health checks, and failure diagnostics for Linear, Canary, and Blue/Green strategies without extra cost.
Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) has introduced real-time service deployment observability directly within the Amazon ECS Console for native Linear, Canary, and Blue/Green deployment strategies. This feature consolidates deployment monitoring and troubleshooting into a single interface, eliminating the need to switch between multiple tools. Users can now track deployment progress, monitor service health, and diagnose failures in one place, streamlining operational workflows.
The update includes a live deployment timeline that updates in real time, detailing each phase of a service deployment. It displays service events, task launches, and terminations, reflecting the current state of the deployment. The timeline also shows traffic distribution between source and target revisions, along with the current lifecycle stage, such as scaling tasks or waiting on lifecycle hooks.
Deployment health signals are now integrated into the timeline, consolidating previously scattered data. This includes circuit breaker status with live task failure tracking, deployment alarm states, container and load balancer health checks, and lifecycle hook statuses. These signals provide immediate visibility into the health of the deployment process.
When issues arise, failed tasks are highlighted in the timeline with diagnostic context and direct links to services like AWS CloudTrail. This allows users to quickly identify root causes and take corrective action. The feature is available at no additional charge across all AWS commercial Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions for supported deployment types.
