Amazon ElastiCache now supports Graviton4-based M8g, R8g, and C8gn nodes
AWS has introduced Graviton4-based M8g, R8g, and C8gn nodes for Amazon ElastiCache, offering improved throughput, latency, and price-performance over Graviton3 nodes.
The useful question is what changes for users, developers or buyers, and whether the announcement stays industry context or becomes something people can actually use.
Amazon ElastiCache now supports Graviton4-based M8g, R8g, and C8gn node families for Valkey and Memcached, delivering up to 47% higher throughput and 43% lower P99 latency compared to Graviton3-based nodes of equivalent sizes. The new nodes also provide up to 31% better price-performance under on-demand pricing, depending on configuration. Memory capacity per node has increased, with an m8g.8xlarge offering 124.65 GiB compared to 103.68 GiB on an m7g.8xlarge, representing up to 20% more memory at the same size.
C8gn nodes introduce up to 200 Gbps of network bandwidth, enabling higher performance and throughput for network-intensive workloads while optimizing costs. The new node families are available in sizes ranging from large to 16xlarge across over 30 AWS Regions, including AWS GovCloud (US) and China Regions.
Customers can deploy or upgrade clusters using the AWS Management Console, AWS SDK, or AWS CLI. AWS also supports integration with AI coding agents for ElastiCache operations, as outlined in the Agent tools documentation.
