AWS DataSync Enhanced mode now supports Amazon EFS and Amazon FSx for Lustre

AWS DataSync Enhanced mode now supports Amazon EFS and Amazon FSx for Lustre as both source and destination locations, expanding its capabilities beyond the previously limited Basic mode. This update allows customers to transfer data more efficiently using parallel processing and detailed transfer metrics. The service remains available in all AWS Regions where DataSync is offered, providing broader flexibility for data migration and management workflows.

Previously restricted to Basic mode for EFS and FSx for Lustre transfers, customers can now leverage Enhanced mode to handle large-scale migrations, AI and machine learning training, high-performance computing, genomics processing, and media rendering. The enhanced processing removes file count limitations, improving performance for data-intensive operations. This change simplifies workflows by consolidating transfer methods into a single mode.

The update applies to all AWS Regions where AWS DataSync is available, ensuring consistent access to the new functionality. Customers can begin using Enhanced mode immediately through the AWS DataSync console, streamlining the process of initiating data transfers. Documentation has been updated to reflect the expanded compatibility with EFS and FSx for Lustre.
