Google introduced XREAL AURA wired XR glasses, the first of their kind, powered by Android XR, an AI-driven operating system that overlays digital content onto the real world. The glasses are designed for enterprise users, offering productivity features such as native support for Android productivity apps from the Google Play Store and the ability to connect laptops directly via a DisplayPort-in function. This integration allows users to work within a spatial environment while maintaining visibility of their physical surroundings.

XREAL AURA devices will be managed through the Android Enterprise framework, which includes key security and management features introduced earlier this year for Android XR. The framework ensures that IT teams can oversee device security, app deployment, and user access, aligning with existing enterprise mobility policies. This approach provides a familiar and secure environment for deploying XR technology in workplace settings.

The glasses enable users to seamlessly switch between extended reality and their physical environment, unlocking new enterprise use cases such as remote collaboration, on-site data visualization, and hands-free workflows. The form factor is designed to support extended reality applications while allowing users to remain aware of their surroundings, making it suitable for tasks that require both digital and physical interaction.

XREAL AURA is currently available for purchase in the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, with a restriction to users aged 18 and older. Some features and apps may require additional downloads, setup, or subscriptions, and further details can be found on the News from Google blog or the XREAL AURA shop.
