Trusted Data Apps for the Agentic Data Cloud, powered by Looker
Google Cloud’s Looker introduces Data Apps to turn AI-generated prototypes into production-grade, governed applications without custom coding or new infrastructure.
Business intelligence users often face limitations with static dashboards and manual CSV exports, forcing them to build custom applications for interactive needs. Looker Data Apps, now in preview, bridges this gap by enabling AI agents to generate pixel-perfect, operational web applications directly within Looker. These apps support live simulations, parameter inputs, and connections to business tools like Salesforce or Jira, expanding beyond passive reporting. Unlike dashboards, which focus on aggregate visibility, data apps handle active execution, allowing users to modify records and trigger downstream tasks while maintaining governed data integrity.
Designed for governed enterprises, Looker Data Apps inherit existing semantic models, row-level security, and access controls to ensure metric consistency and eliminate hallucinations. Every calculation is centrally governed, and query inspection tools allow teams to audit generated SQL for accuracy. The platform supports both zero-code deployment of agent-generated React apps and LLM-driven custom development using tools like Claude Code or Antigravity CLI. This flexibility enables rapid iteration while maintaining enterprise governance standards.
Looker Data Apps operate with no runtime token costs, as end-user interactions run on native Looker APIs and models, regardless of user scale. Deployment is as simple as embedding a dashboard, requiring no new pipelines, custom code, or additional permission models. This eliminates the need for bespoke systems or protracted security reviews, reducing barriers to production deployment. The marginal cost remains unchanged whether serving 50 or 5,000 users, ensuring scalability without added complexity.
Looker Data Apps are now available in preview, offering a new way to transform AI prototypes into governed, production-grade tools. Teams can deploy these apps directly within Looker or embed them in external portals using existing workflows. The solution addresses the long-standing challenge of turning promising prototypes into reliable, secure systems without sacrificing governance or requiring extensive engineering resources.
