EDOTCO Group has launched NaPA GPT, an AI tool built on Microsoft Azure, to accelerate network planning decisions by enabling natural-language queries on geospatial and operational data.
Telecom infrastructure planning involves complex decisions about tower placement, balancing factors like population density, signal strength, and terrain. EDOTCO Group’s new Network Planning & Analytics (NaPA) tool consolidates these data sources into a single platform to identify coverage gaps and evaluate tower locations more efficiently. Previously, planners relied on data science teams to prepare datasets, a process that could take days or weeks. NaPA streamlines this by integrating planning, geospatial, and operational data into one system, reducing delays in identifying optimal tower sites.
To further speed up decision-making, EDOTCO introduced NaPA GPT, an AI-powered conversational interface built on Microsoft Azure. Using Azure Container Apps, Blob Storage, and Generative AI, NaPA GPT processes complex queries in natural language, allowing planners to ask questions such as which areas show the strongest potential for network investment. The tool ranks potential locations in minutes, enabling faster exploration of scenarios and evidence-based recommendations without waiting for specialist support.
NaPA GPT is now being embedded into EDOTCO’s planning workflows, with plans to expand its use across multiple markets. The tool also supports government agencies through customized dashboards, promoting data-driven planning beyond telecom infrastructure. EDOTCO’s Director of Engineering Technology & Innovation, Pradeep De Almeida, highlighted Azure’s role in securely processing live data, enabling predictive planning and AI-assisted recommendations for future network investments.
EDOTCO views this AI-driven approach as a model for broader applications, including regulatory planning and smart city development. The company is exploring predictive planning and ‘what-if’ simulations to support infrastructure decisions, signaling a shift toward AI-assisted planning across sectors. This initiative aligns with Microsoft’s 2026 Work Trend Index, which found that 69% of Malaysians using AI report increased productivity.
