Microsoft Vice Chair Brad Smith inaugurated the €1m Dream Space @ the Data Centre hub at the company’s Grange Castle campus, marking a €1m investment in STEM and AI education for students in Dublin and Kildare. The facility aims to provide tailored learning experiences for primary and post-primary students, highlighting career opportunities in digital infrastructure. More than 5,000 students from local schools are expected to participate in sessions over the next 12 months.

The new hub builds on Microsoft’s existing Dream Space initiative, which has engaged over 550,000 students in STEM and AI education since 2018. It introduces a curriculum focused on skills relevant to the digital infrastructure sector, including electrical engineering, physical computing, and cloud operations. A mini data centre lab and hands-on activities are designed to make technology and careers tangible for learners.

Since 2018, Microsoft has invested over €6.5 million in Irish communities hosting its data centres, supporting programmes that advance prosperity, sustainability, and wellbeing for over 135,000 people. The €1m investment in Dream Space @ the Data Centre is part of a €4m fund allocated in March last year to support AI-era skills development in Ireland.

The hub complements other Microsoft Ireland initiatives, such as the Collinstown Data Centre Academy, to raise awareness of pathways into further education, apprenticeships, and careers in data centres and technology. Lavinia Morris, General Manager of Microsoft’s EMEA Data Centre Operations, highlighted the hub’s role in connecting students with real-world skills and opportunities in Ireland’s digital infrastructure sector.
