This map shows the most important asset that VC-backed companies need right now
Mozilla and six partners launched the Trustworthy AI Map, a global directory of 79 venture-backed companies building AI infrastructure focused on trust, including identity, data control and evaluation.
Venture-backed AI companies often prioritize funding or revenue, but Mozilla argues that trust is equally critical for long-term success. To highlight this, Mozilla supported the launch of the Trustworthy AI Map, a market directory of 79 companies across 15 countries. These companies span early to later-stage ventures and operate across seven layers of the AI stack, such as identity, data control, interoperability and evaluation. The map connects products with their backing companies and investors, offering a resource for exploring commercial opportunities in trust-focused AI.
To qualify for inclusion, companies must demonstrate trust as a core component of their product or business model. This can be achieved through human agency, trust by design or aligned business incentives. The initiative reflects Mozilla’s broader commitment to fostering trustworthy AI technologies and ecosystems. By providing this resource, the map aims to help investors, founders and businesses identify and support companies that prioritize ethical and reliable AI development.
Mozilla’s involvement aligns with recent efforts to advance trustworthy AI, including investments through Mozilla Ventures and the launch of Otari. Otari is an open source enterprise tool designed to simplify the management of large language model infrastructure from a single interface. Additionally, Mozilla published research in the State of Open Source AI report, which analyzes trends in open source AI and highlights a narrowing capability gap between open and closed models.
The Trustworthy AI Map is supported by seven organizations, including Mozilla, and has backing from institutions like Mila: the Quebec AI Institute and the Canadian government. Industry partners such as Hypertec are also involved, underscoring the collaborative effort to promote trustworthy AI. The project arrives amid growing public concern about AI, positioning trust not just as an ethical consideration but as a pathway to sustainable profitability in the sector.
