The initiative includes the launch of ChatGPT for Teens, a dedicated platform designed for adolescent users, featuring safeguards for healthy engagement and additional parental controls. The experience builds on existing OpenAI resources like ChatGPT for Teachers and partnerships with organizations such as the American Federation of Teachers to integrate AI learning into classrooms.

The partnership emphasizes education around AI technology, encouraging students to direct, question, and create with AI while involving teachers in guiding its classroom use. Dr. Allison Mishkin, Head of Child Development at OpenAI, stated the goal is to help students ask better questions, think critically about AI responses, and use tools responsibly. CodeAI CEO Karim Meghji highlighted the importance of students understanding AI mechanics to catch errors and recognize when to question its outputs.
