Warcraft 3: Reforged adds always-online requirement, removes LAN mode

Warcraft 3: Reforged received a major 3.0 patch alongside the new Forsaken Kingdom expansion, introducing both improvements and controversial changes. Among the updates, Blizzard now requires an active internet connection to play, even in singleplayer mode, which was not previously enforced. Additionally, the game’s local area network (LAN) functionality has been entirely removed, limiting multiplayer options. The patch notes did not explain the rationale behind these decisions, leaving players questioning the necessity of the changes.

Blizzard clarified that the legacy Warcraft 3 client, included with Reforged purchases, still supports LAN play and offline functionality.
