The Reserve Bank of India extended regulatory directions for The Industrial Co-operative Bank Ltd., Guwahati, for three additional months beyond October 4, 2026, citing public interest.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued Directions to The Industrial Co-operative Bank Ltd., Guwahati, under Section 35A and Section 56 of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, initially effective from July 3, 2025, for six months. The RBI later extended these directions twice, first to October 4, 2026, and now for an additional three months. The latest extension was formalized through Directive No.DOR.MON./D-18/12-29-104/2026-2027 dated June 25, 2026.
The RBI cited public interest as the rationale for extending the regulatory oversight beyond October 4, 2026, without implying satisfaction with the bank’s financial position. The extension applies from the close of business on October 4, 2026, to January 4, 2027, subject to periodic review.
The RBI emphasized that the extension does not indicate approval of the bank’s financial health, as the Directions remain unchanged in their core terms and conditions. The regulatory oversight is intended to ensure compliance and stability in the cooperative banking sector.
The Industrial Co-operative Bank Ltd., Guwahati, will continue to operate under the existing RBI Directions for three more months, with no alterations to the original conditions. The RBI retains the authority to modify or revoke the Directions as deemed necessary during this period.
