Department of War Enhances C-UAS Marketplace to Expand Access to Validated Technologies
The U.S. Department of War’s Joint Interagency Task Force 401 expanded its counter-drone technology marketplace to streamline procurement for military, law enforcement, and allied partners through validated solutions.
The Department of War’s Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401), in collaboration with Kaizen Laboratories, has upgraded its counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) marketplace to assist military units, domestic law enforcement, and international partners in identifying, evaluating, and acquiring validated counter-drone technologies. The platform allows users to search by operational needs, review performance data, and purchase solutions through a simplified process. Maj. Mike Hapner, C-UAS marketplace lead for JIATF-401, emphasized the initiative’s focus on delivering capabilities efficiently to authorized users.
The marketplace supports the Secretary of the Army’s Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Fast Lane initiative by integrating with existing acquisition pathways to accelerate requirements development and reduce timelines for foreign military sales. Industry partners submit products for inclusion, which are then evaluated and pre-cleared by JIATF-401 in partnership with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Defense Exports & Cooperation (DASA DE&C). This ensures capabilities are integrated across the joint force, partners, and allies.
JIATF-401’s broader effort aims to strengthen collaboration among government, industry, and allied nations while expanding access to trusted C-UAS capabilities. The marketplace provides a common platform for validated technologies, enabling users to make informed procurement decisions and respond more quickly to evolving drone threats. Brig. Gen. Matt Ross, director of JIATF-401, highlighted the urgency of addressing the proliferation of small drones and their threats to critical infrastructure and defense assets.
The enhanced marketplace is part of a broader strategy to share best practices and equipment globally, addressing the growing challenge posed by small unmanned systems. By centralizing validated solutions, JIATF-401 seeks to improve coordination and accelerate the deployment of counter-drone technologies to meet operational demands.
