The Prime Minister welcomed Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Støre to Liverpool, emphasising the long-standing partnership between the two nations. Discussions centred on the Lunna House strategic defence agreement, highlighting its role in sustaining defence cooperation and job creation in the North Atlantic. Both leaders underscored the importance of their collaboration in countering Russian hybrid aggression, particularly in maritime security, through NATO and the Joint Expeditionary Force.
They reviewed outcomes from the UN General Assembly, focusing on international cooperation to address challenges posed by rapidly advancing technology. The leaders noted the UK’s G20 presidency as an opportunity to foster greater collaboration and advance discussions on responsible artificial intelligence development.
The Prime Minister and Prime Minister Støre welcomed the recent agreement between Denmark, Greenland, and the United States, signed at the UNGA, which strengthens security in the High North. The leaders reflected on the agreement’s significance for regional stability and allied coordination.
