Guterres also expressed concern over military escalation in the Black Sea and Sea of Azov, which threatens global food supplies, urging all parties to protect civilian maritime infrastructure and ensure freedom of navigation. The UN Deputy Spokesperson reiterated calls for an immediate ceasefire and a just, sustainable peace, while humanitarian workers face extreme risks, with 25 killed in 2025 and two injured in a recent attack on a UN partner NGO in Kherson.
