Vercel Daemons can now call services with bindings
Vercel Daemons now support service bindings to call internal services via HTTP endpoints, with Vercel managing routing, authentication, and TLS while keeping services private.
Vercel Daemons can now declare service bindings to call other services within the same deployment. Developers specify the target service and the environment variable that will receive the service's URL. The daemon interacts with the service as if it were an external HTTP endpoint, simplifying internal communication.
Vercel handles all internal routing, authentication, and TLS encryption automatically when daemons use service bindings. This reduces the need for manual configuration while ensuring secure communication between services. The bindings operate in a one-way direction, meaning services cannot bind to daemons, maintaining clear dependency boundaries.
Each daemon instance continues to call the specific deployment that initiated it, even after deployment promotions or rollbacks. This ensures consistency in service interactions regardless of changes to the deployment environment. The feature maintains isolation between daemons and services, preventing unintended dependencies.
Service bindings are now available for Vercel Daemons, enabling developers to integrate internal services more efficiently. The feature leverages Vercel's existing infrastructure to manage routing and security, reducing operational overhead. Bindings are declared directly in the daemon configuration, making them easy to implement.
