Vercel has integrated Drama 3, a text-to-speech model from Fish Audio, into its AI Gateway platform, providing users with an 80% discount on the service for 30 days, ending November 12. The model is currently in preview and allows creators to shape voice performances using natural-language instructions embedded directly in scripts. Users can specify emotions, pacing, and sound cues by enclosing text in tags or using square brackets, while also assigning distinct voices to multiple characters for dialogue scenes.
AI Gateway serves as a unified interface for accessing the model, offering tools to monitor usage, track costs, and configure technical settings such as retries, failover, and performance optimizations to improve reliability beyond standard provider uptime. The platform includes additional features like built-in custom reporting, Zero Data Retention support, budget controls for API keys, and routing rules to manage traffic and costs efficiently.
The integration ensures pricing aligns directly with the provider’s rates, with no additional markup applied by Vercel, and no platform fees charged on inference costs. This applies even to requests using Bring Your Own Key (BYOK), maintaining cost transparency for users who supply their own API credentials.
Drama 3 supports multi-speaker dialogue by allowing separate voice assignments for each character, enabling more dynamic and natural-sounding audio productions.
