Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports Supplemental Patch Bundle for July 2026 Release Update
Amazon RDS for Oracle adds support for the July 2026 Supplemental Patch Bundle, enabling database updates for Oracle 19c and 26ai with new and existing instance options.
Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for Oracle now supports the Supplemental Patch Bundle (SPB) for the July 2026 Release Update (RU) across Oracle Database versions 19c and 26ai. This update follows the April 2026 renaming of the Oracle Spatial Patch Bundle to SPB, which includes additional patches recommended by Oracle for specific use cases such as Oracle Spatial, Oracle Data Pump, and Oracle GoldenGate.
The SPB update can be applied to new database instances or used to upgrade existing instances to engine versions 19.0.0.0.ru-2026-07.spb-1.r1 or 26.0.0.0.ru-2026-07.spb-1.r1. Users can select the "Supplemental Patch Bundle Engine Versions" checkbox in the AWS Console to initiate the upgrade process.
To assist with deployment, Amazon RDS for Oracle provides release notes detailing supported Oracle SPBs for each engine version. This documentation helps users understand the scope and compatibility of the updates before applying them to their environments.
AWS Organizations upgrade rollout policy is available to stagger automatic minor version upgrades for Amazon RDS database instances. This feature allows users to apply updates to non-production environments first, validate them, and then automatically roll them out to production environments once validated.
