Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL 19 Beta 4 is now available in the Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment, enabling users to test the upcoming PostgreSQL 19 release on Amazon’s managed database service. The preview environment allows evaluation of pre-release software with real workloads, providing early feedback on features and performance before they reach general availability. Database instances in the preview environment are temporary and automatically deleted after 60 days, ensuring no long-term commitments are required for testing. Users can import or export data using PostgreSQL dump and load tools to move databases between the preview and production environments.
PostgreSQL 19 Beta 4 includes refinements to query performance and autovacuum management, building on improvements introduced in earlier beta versions. The update addresses bug fixes and stability issues, such as corrected freeze-score scaling for tuning autovacuum prioritization and accurate reporting for the pg_stat_autovacuum_scores view on TOAST tables.
