AWS Elemental introduces Dynamic Multiview for live video

AWS Elemental MediaPackage has introduced Dynamic Multiview, a server-side feature that dynamically combines multiple live video sources into viewer-selected tiled layouts. The capability operates in the compressed domain, merging individually encoded streams without re-encoding or compositing. Content providers can deliver multi-angle or multi-game viewing experiences as standard HLS and DASH streams, compatible with most modern devices and televisions.

Dynamic Multiview eliminates the need for pre-encoding combinations by assembling compositions only when requested by viewers. Each source is encoded once through AWS Elemental MediaLive, while MediaPackage handles the on-demand assembly. The output remains standard HLS and DASH, ensuring playback on existing devices and players without requiring app changes or SDK integration.

The feature supports AVC and HEVC codecs, enabling compatibility with a range of devices and bandwidth conditions. It also includes DRM encryption for secure content delivery, SCTE-35 ad marker passthrough for seamless ad insertion, and full-screen ad replacement capabilities. These features maintain compatibility with existing workflows and infrastructure.
