BMW M celebrated the production of its one-millionth vehicle, a BMW M3 with BMW Individual Fire Orange III paint, at BMW Group Plant Munich. The milestone car was presented by Peter Weber, head of the plant, to Franciscus van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH, during an official ceremony. The event highlighted over five decades of BMW M’s performance and innovation while signaling the plant’s transition to electric vehicle production. The milestone vehicle underscores the brand’s enduring appeal since the first BMW M3 launched 40 years prior.

BMW Group Plant Munich will produce the fully-electric BMW M3, the first high-performance model featuring BMW M Neue Klasse technology. This marks the second Neue Klasse model made in Munich after the fully-electric BMW i3, representing a new chapter for BMW M. The plant, which has produced the current BMW M3 generation since 2020, will exclusively manufacture the electric version, reinforcing its strategic role in the BMW Group’s global production network.

BMW Group Plant Munich is undergoing a transformation to become an electric-only production site by 2027, with investments totaling around €650 million. The plant’s modernization includes a new body shop, advanced vehicle assembly, and updated logistics areas covering one-third of the site. Modern production structures, digitalization, and collaboration with suppliers enable efficient manufacturing of high-performance electric models like the new BMW M3.

The BMW Group reported €133.5 billion in revenue and €10.2 billion in profit before tax for 2025, with 2.46 million passenger vehicles and over 202,500 motorcycles sold globally. The company employs 154,540 people and emphasizes sustainability across its supply chain, production, and product lifecycle. The economic success is rooted in long-term strategy and responsible corporate actions.
