On 22 July 2026, CERN’s Security Service initiated a four-month trial of an autonomous robot designed to enhance security monitoring at the Meyrin and Prévessin sites. The two-wheeled robot, equipped with 360° cameras, a thermal imaging camera, and acoustic sensors, patrols perimeters measuring 4.9 km and 5.5 km respectively. It operates at speeds up to 5 km/h and can function for approximately eight hours before returning to its charging station.
