Fairphone has introduced the Gen. 6+ model, an upgraded version of its Gen. 6 smartphone, addressing user feedback for better performance and memory. The device retains Fairphone’s industry-leading repairability standards while offering a 24% faster app loading speed and a 20% reduction in system RAM reservation time. It ships with Android 16 and includes six guaranteed OS upgrades over its lifespan, ensuring long-term usability.
The Gen. 6+ introduces new color options, including an exclusive Cobalt Blue, which reflects Fairphone’s commitment to ethically sourced materials and its origins as a conflict mineral awareness campaign. The device contains 51% fair and recycled materials by weight and supports Fairphone’s living wage bonus program. Accessories such as the card holder, finger loop, and protective cover are also available in the new color, maintaining the phone’s ethical and environmental credentials.
Software updates include expanded Fairphone Moments, a digital minimalist mode with enhanced customization options like new wallpapers, app reordering, and Switch button functionality. A new local gallery app allows users to store photos and videos without relying on third-party or paid cloud services.
