Alpine confirm Colapinto contract extension for 2027
Alpine has confirmed Franco Colapinto will remain as a race driver alongside Pierre Gasly through the 2027 Formula 1 season, maintaining the current driver lineup.
Alpine has announced that Franco Colapinto will continue racing for the team in 2027, partnering Pierre Gasly in an unchanged driver lineup. Colapinto joined Alpine as a reserve in 2025 before replacing Jack Doohan mid-season and has since scored 19 points across six Grands Prix. The team currently sits sixth in the Constructors' Championship with Gasly under contract until at least 2028.
Executive Advisor Flavio Briatore emphasized the importance of consistency in the driver lineup, stating that while the pairing provides a strong match for the future, the team's priority remains developing a competitive race car. Briatore highlighted Colapinto's growth, particularly after strong performances in Miami and Montreal, and expressed confidence in both drivers' ability to contribute to the team's progress.
Colapinto expressed his satisfaction with the extension, noting his improved performance and the team's progress this season compared to 2024. He acknowledged the ongoing efforts to enhance the car's performance and reiterated the team's long-term goals of competing and winning at the front of the field.
The announcement coincides with the upcoming Italian Grand Prix, where Colapinto will receive an upgraded package previously debuted ahead of schedule by Gasly in Zandvoort. The team continues to focus on improving the car's competitiveness ahead of the 2027 season.
