F1 ACADEMY unveils expanded 2026 Rookie Test
F1 ACADEMY will expand its 2026 Rookie Test with a new training camp at Loughborough University, aiming to identify and develop female racing talent through science-backed assessments and on-track experience.
F1 ACADEMY has confirmed the return of its Rookie Test in 2026, alongside a new Rookie Training Camp developed with Loughborough University. The initiative is designed to identify and nurture emerging female drivers from a growing global talent pool. Last year’s inaugural Rookie Test saw seven drivers secure full-time seats on the 2026 grid, with two more making Wild Card appearances this season.
The programme combines physiological profiling, cognitive testing, and performance screening with workshops on strength, conditioning, and resilience. Drivers will participate in seminars led by Loughborough University experts, covering topics such as performance lifestyle and elite sport behaviours. The training camp will take place at Loughborough University from 25–27 August 2026.
Following the camp, drivers will progress to the on-track Rookie Test at Circuito de Navarra from 9–11 September 2026. The test will immerse participants in an F1 ACADEMY team environment, including driver briefings, engineering sessions, and media briefings. Drivers will also take part in assessment activities to prepare for off-track responsibilities in professional racing.
Eighteen female drivers, all eligible for future F1 ACADEMY competition, have been selected for the programme. Katie Denver, F1 ACADEMY’s Performance & Talent Development Manager, highlighted the initiative’s role in accelerating driver development through science-backed methods and on-track experience.
