McLaren lead development push as Dutch GP upgrades revealed
Formula 1 teams introduce aerodynamic and mechanical upgrades at the Dutch Grand Prix, with McLaren leading changes including a new rear wing and revised bodywork to enhance performance.
The Dutch Grand Prix marks the return of Formula 1 following the summer break, with several teams introducing upgrades to improve performance. Mercedes has modified the front corner by detaching the drum front lip from the duct inlet and adjusting the camber, aiming to enhance flow to the rear of the car. Ferrari has made multiple changes targeting improved local load, including further floor development, tweaks to the body and board, and optimisation of the diffuser expansion and geometry to increase aerodynamic load. The adjustments also include a minor change to the lower beam wing.
McLaren leads the upgrades list with a new rear wing assembly and revised central bodywork designed to extract additional aerodynamic performance. The team will also introduce a new rear brake duct to improve both aerodynamic efficiency and brake cooling performance. Red Bull has made a small tweak to the wishbone shroud cord length to address reliability concerns and reduce strain at high steering angles during Max Verstappen’s home race.
Alpine has introduced a significant number of updates, including a new floor design, redesigned floor edges, a reprofiled diffuser, and new elements on the rear drum face. The team has also updated the rear impact structure and redesigned the flap geometry on the rear wing. Further changes to the floor board and sidepod aim to improve flow quality to the rear of the car while maintaining cooling capacity. Only Pierre Gasly will benefit from this package this weekend due to its rushed development.
Aston Martin has introduced further upgrades to complement the new Honda power unit, focusing on improving local load. The changes include modifications to three parts of the front wing, with adjustments to the final element and inboard foot to enhance performance. The team has also altered the floor fence in the diffuser and the lower edge of the diffuser winglet, aiming to increase rear load. Other teams, including Racing Bulls, Haas, Audi, Williams, and Cadillac, have not brought any upgrades to the Dutch Grand Prix.
