Verstappen explains ‘limitations’ in Dutch GP Qualifying

Liam Lawson, deputizing for the injured Isack Hadjar, secured eighth place and described his qualifying effort as an improvement over Friday. The New Zealander noted progress in consolidating his pace but admitted the car’s overall performance fell short of expectations. Lawson cited Verstappen as his primary reference point and expressed satisfaction with his qualifying lap, while acknowledging the need to refine race-trim handling before Sunday.

Lawson set a target of maintaining his grid position in the race, though he did not rule out further progress if opportunities arise. He highlighted challenges adapting to the car’s race setup, particularly after a difficult Sprint session. The team will review data to address handling inconsistencies ahead of the Grand Prix, with Lawson emphasizing learning as a key priority during his debut weekend with the squad.
