Garmin unveils AXIS, a new generation of highly integrated flight displays
Garmin introduced AXIS, a new family of integrated flight displays combining GPS, NAV/COMM, and audio functions into single units for certified, experimental, and LSA aircraft, with availability starting in July 2026.

Garmin unveiled AXIS, a first-of-its-kind flight display system integrating flight display, IFR GPS, NAV/COMM radio, and audio panel capabilities into a single unit. Designed for certified piston-powered single and twin-engine aircraft, experimental, and LSA (MOSAIC) aircraft, AXIS simplifies cockpit integration by reducing weight and installation complexity. The system is compatible with existing Garmin sensors and offers an upgrade path using the same panel cutouts and mounting points as G3X Touch displays. AXIS will be available in three display sizes: 11.6-inch landscape, 8-inch portrait, and 8-inch landscape, with the 11.6-inch model optionally including built-in IFR GPS, COMM radio, NAV radio, and audio panel.
The AXIS displays feature responsive touchscreens and physical controls, configurable as primary flight displays (PFD) or multi-function displays (MFD) with optional engine indication system (EIS). Pilots can use full-screen or split-screen modes to maximize situational awareness, leveraging a modernized user interface. The 11.6-inch displays with integrated IFR GPS support 8.33kHz frequency tuning, standby COMM monitoring, and Bluetooth for music or phone calls. The built-in 4-place intercom audio panel includes dual-comm switching and comm playback. Certified variants include PFD/MFD, GPS/COMM, and GPS/NAV/COMM models, while experimental and LSA aircraft can use non-TSO versions.
AXIS incorporates advanced safety features such as Enhanced Synthetic Vision Technology (SVT) for 3D terrain and obstacle depiction, 3D SafeTaxi for airport environment visualization, and Smart Glide for engine-out emergency navigation. Additional safety tools include Runway Occupancy Awareness (ROA) and SurfaceWatch for runway incursion prevention. The EIS provides real-time engine data with color-coded gauges and bar displays, supporting most 4- to 6-cylinder piston engines, turbocharged engines, radial, and turbine-powered experimental aircraft. Flight and engine data logs can be automatically uploaded to flyGarmin.com via the Garmin Pilot app or GDL 60 datalink and PlaneSync service.
The AXIS system supports advanced connectivity with built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB-C for data transfer and device charging up to 27W. PlaneSync enables automatic database downloads, remote aircraft status, and flight log uploading, while Database Concierge allows wireless updates to compatible avionics. The 11.6-inch AXIS displays have achieved FAA/EASA TSO certification and will be available in July 2026, with 8-inch displays expected in early 2027. The FAA STC will cover hundreds of certified piston aircraft models, with additional civil aviation authority approvals anticipated.
