They are also adapting SynthID watermarking technology for biological sequences to help DNA synthesis providers screen for potentially hazardous AI-generated content. AlphaEvolve, an AI agent, is being used to optimize metagenomic sequencing algorithms, reducing costs and improving the speed of pathogen surveillance worldwide. Additional tools, including AlphaGenome and Protein Function annotation, are being explored to detect novel pathogens from sequence data more efficiently than traditional methods.
In response to outbreaks, Google DeepMind is granting trusted researchers access to its latest AI systems to accelerate vaccine and countermeasure design for both known and emerging threats. Isomorphic Labs has established a dedicated unit to rapidly deploy its Drug Design Engine, supporting the development of medical countermeasures for naturally occurring pandemics and AI-related risks. These efforts align with broader initiatives to address Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats under the Frontier Safety Framework.
