IBM Partners with OpenAI to Accelerate Secure AI Deployment for Enterprises Across Core Operations

IBM and OpenAI announced a partnership to help enterprises integrate AI across core operations such as finance, HR, and customer service while addressing cybersecurity risks through programs like OpenAI Daybreak. The collaboration will embed OpenAI’s models, including GPT-5.6, into IBM Consulting Advantage, combining AI agents, industry solutions, and cybersecurity capabilities to support secure AI deployment at scale. Joint initiatives will target financial services, government, telecommunications, and retail sectors, with IBM deploying specialized engineers and consultants trained through the OpenAI Partner Network to assist clients in regulated environments. IBM will also establish a dedicated OpenAI Practice, certifying thousands of consultants to accelerate AI implementation in complex enterprise workflows, aiming to overcome barriers to scaling AI adoption.

IBM will join OpenAI’s Elite partner tier as part of the agreement, emphasizing a shared commitment to delivering enterprise-ready AI solutions that align with business priorities and regulatory requirements. The partnership includes joint go-to-market efforts and the creation of industry-specific solutions tailored to financial services, government, telecommunications, and retail, as well as key enterprise domains like finance, procurement, customer operations, and HR. IBM’s role will involve deploying forward-deployed units of engineers and consultants to work directly with clients, accelerating AI integration in complex and highly regulated business environments. The collaboration seeks to address challenges in scaling AI by transforming fragmented processes and legacy systems into secure, AI-driven operations.

IBM Consulting and OpenAI aim to help organizations turn AI into a trusted component of their operations by combining IBM’s consulting expertise with OpenAI’s frontier models and products like Codex and ChatGPT Work. The partnership will focus on delivering measurable business outcomes and creating new commercial models through secure, scalable AI deployments. IBM’s AI platform, IBM Consulting Advantage, will integrate OpenAI’s technology to provide clients with industry-specific solutions and cybersecurity capabilities, supporting regulated sectors such as financial services and government.
