IBM Introduces Self-Hosted Deployment for IBM Bob to Help Enterprises Advance AI Sovereignty and Governance
IBM introduced self-hosted deployment for IBM Bob, enabling enterprises to run AI-driven software development on their own infrastructure to meet security and compliance needs.
IBM announced a self-hosted deployment option for IBM Bob, its agentic software development platform, allowing organizations to run AI-powered software delivery and modernization on their own infrastructure. This addresses concerns from enterprises managing sensitive code or regulated data that face restrictions when using public AI platforms. The new deployment model supports on-premises, private-cloud, sovereign-cloud, and air-gapped environments, giving organizations full control over data residency and governance.
The self-hosted version of IBM Bob enables enterprises to deploy AI software development capabilities where their code and data already reside, avoiding the need to move sensitive information to external services. This flexibility is designed for environments with strict security and compliance requirements, such as those handling intellectual property or regulated customer data. Supported models can be run locally or connected to external services via hybrid configurations.
According to IBM’s Institute for Business Value, 68% of surveyed executives in June 2026 reported challenges meeting data residency and sovereignty requirements across geographies. IBM Bob’s deployment flexibility aims to help enterprises address these challenges by bringing AI to the data rather than moving data to the AI. The platform supports modernization across distributed infrastructure, including on-premises systems and private clouds.
IBM Bob’s self-hosted deployment expands AI adoption for enterprises with complex infrastructure needs, complementing its existing hybrid cloud and AI solutions. The platform is part of IBM’s broader portfolio, which serves over 175 countries and supports critical sectors like financial services, healthcare, and telecommunications.
