Introducing Kraken Funded: trade with Kraken’s money, keep 80% of the profits
Kraken has launched Kraken Funded, a program allowing eligible traders to access capital by completing a profit-based challenge without risking real funds, keeping 80% of profits upon success.
The useful question is what changes for users, developers or buyers, and whether the announcement stays industry context or becomes something people can actually use.
Kraken Funded introduces a new way for eligible customers to access trading capital by demonstrating profitability in a simulated environment within the Kraken mobile app. Participants pay a one-time fee to enter a challenge with a 12% profit target and a 5% maximum drawdown limit, with no time constraints. Successful traders receive a funded account backed by Kraken’s capital, enabling them to trade over 50 cryptoassets and select stocks across more than 150 countries, including the US and EEA. The program is designed to be accessible, with no upfront capital requirements or separate platform to learn, and is integrated directly into the Kraken app.
Traders who meet the profit target in the challenge retain 80% of their gains, with payouts processed in USD to their Kraken account typically within 24 hours. The funded account incurs no trading fees, allowing participants to retain their full edge. Kraken Funded is currently available to eligible customers in select regions, with plans to expand to additional markets in the coming weeks. The service is offered by Payward Oceanic Ltd and is not regulated by authorities such as the SEC or CFTC.
The evaluation process is intentionally rigorous to assess risk-management skills and strategy discipline before allocating proprietary capital. Most applicants do not pass on their first attempt, and there is no guarantee of future success. Traders provide trade signals to Payward Oceanic Ltd, which exercises sole discretion over whether to act on them. Prospective participants must purchase an evaluation only if confident in their trading ability and accept the risk of not qualifying for a funded account.
Evaluation fees are non-refundable once trading begins, regardless of outcome, and any payout is a discretionary performance fee rather than a guaranteed return. The protections provided by the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) do not apply to this service. Availability varies by jurisdiction, and customers should review regional restrictions before participating.
