The Bitcoin Trading Challenge: Trade BTC for a chance to win your share of 1 BTC
Kraken will run a month-long Bitcoin trading competition from August 19 to September 19, 2026, offering a 1 BTC prize pool paid entirely in Bitcoin to eligible traders based on realized PnL from BTC perpetual futures contracts.
Kraken has announced a Bitcoin Trading Challenge where participants can compete for a share of 1 BTC in prizes, paid exclusively in Bitcoin rather than stablecoins or other assets. The competition runs from August 19 to September 19, 2026, and requires traders to enroll separately to include their BTC perpetual futures activity in the contest. Only Bitcoin perpetual futures (BTC perp) trades qualify, with no other trading pairs or categories included in the leaderboard.
The total prize pool is fixed at 1 BTC and will not increase or decrease based on participation. Payouts are determined by realized profit and loss (PnL) from closed positions only, with open positions excluded from rankings. Traders must achieve at least $25 in realized PnL to qualify for any payout, and the distribution spans up to 600 ranks, with the top 600 participants sharing 29.5% of the pool.
First place will receive 0.15 BTC, while ranks 51 to 600 will share the remaining portion of the prize pool. The competition’s rules emphasize that rankings are dynamic, reflecting the real-time performance of closed trades throughout the month. Final-week trades carry the same weight as those closed on the first day, ensuring fairness in the evaluation period.
The challenge is open to eligible clients in jurisdictions outside the EEA, US, UK, Australia, and Canada. Kraken notes that trading with leverage involves risk, including potential losses exceeding initial margin, and advises participants to trade only with funds they can afford to lose.
