Kraken has listed USDPT, a USD-backed stablecoin issued by Anchorage Digital Bank on the Solana blockchain, enabling near real-time settlements and global value transfers.
The useful question is what changes for users, developers or buyers, and whether the announcement stays industry context or becomes something people can actually use.
Kraken has added USDPT to its trading platform, allowing users to deposit and trade the stablecoin. Deposits must be made via supported networks to avoid loss. USDPT is issued by Anchorage Digital Bank, a federally chartered crypto bank, and operates on the Solana blockchain. The stablecoin is backed by U.S. dollars and designed for enterprise-grade payments and global transfers.
USDPT is issued by Western Union’s USD-backed stablecoin, leveraging the company’s network of nearly 500,000 retail locations across 200+ countries. It enables near real-time settlements and reduces funding cycles from days to seconds. The stablecoin also serves as the native settlement asset for Western Union’s self-custodial Visa card, supporting 24/7 digital spending and money movement.
Western Union’s Digital Asset Network (DAN) integrates USDPT with the digital asset ecosystem, offering fiat on-ramp and off-ramp services through retail locations. This bridges traditional finance and digital assets, providing global reach to crypto users. USDPT is positioned to power cross-border remittances, treasury optimization, and institutional settlement for Western Union and its partners.
