Five L3Harris Systems Achieve Jailbroken Status at US Army Events
L3Harris Technologies announced five of its systems achieved 'Jailbroken' status during U.S. Army Operation Jailbreak events, validating open-system integration for future battlefield networks.
L3Harris Technologies confirmed five of its systems received 'Jailbroken' status during U.S. Army Operation Jailbreak exercises this year. The validation tested whether technologies met standards-based application programming interfaces for open-system integration into future military networks. Systems included the Falcon IV family of radios, Wraith waveform, Wraith Shield software, WESCAM MX-Series sensors, and VAMPIRE counter-unmanned systems. The Army’s assessment ensures interoperability with any data layer for Army, joint, and coalition warfighting architectures.
The three-week exercises involved L3Harris collaborating with three industry partners to connect communication systems with WESCAM MX-Series sensors and VAMPIRE via the Wraith waveform. This demonstrated an interoperable, deployable robotic system providing early intelligence and warning for combatant commanders. The integration supports data-driven military operations requiring assured communications across the battlespace.
L3Harris emphasized its role in supporting the Army’s Right to Integrate initiative with open, adaptable, and scalable systems. The company highlighted the need for assured communications to share data for strategic and tactical decision advantages. Chris Aebli, President of Communications & Spectrum Dominance, underscored the focus on accelerating interoperability across battlefield systems.
L3Harris also noted an undefinitized contract with Lockheed Martin valued at over $6 billion over seven years to expand propulsion production for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system. The company described its systems as supporting missions across space, air, land, sea, and cyber domains for national security.
