L3Harris Technologies Appoints Sam Mehta, Proven Aerospace and Defense Executive, as President and Chief Executive Officer
L3Harris Technologies named Sam Mehta as President and CEO, replacing Christopher Kubasik, who stepped down amid a conduct investigation. Lewis Hay III became Independent Chairman of the Board. Mehta, previously head of major segments, will lead the company’s growth strategy.
L3Harris Technologies announced the appointment of Sam Mehta as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately, following the Board of Directors’ decision. Mehta, who joined the company in 2023, previously led the Space & Mission Systems and Communications & Spectrum Dominance segments, which account for over 80% of L3Harris’ revenue. His appointment reflects the Board’s succession planning and focus on cultivating internal leadership. Lewis Hay III, Lead Independent Director, was named Independent Chairman of the Board in the same restructuring.
Christopher Kubasik stepped down as Chairman and CEO, and as a Board member, after the company identified conduct inconsistent with its Code of Conduct. The Board, following an independent investigation, concluded that a separation agreement was in the company’s best interests. Kubasik’s departure is unrelated to financial performance, customer relations, or operational outcomes. L3Harris reaffirmed its 2026 financial guidance, including revenue, organic growth, and earnings per share projections.
Lauren Barnes, previously President of Spectrum Superiority, was appointed President of the Space & Mission Systems segment. Christopher Aebli, formerly President of Mission Critical Communications, assumed the role of President of Communications & Spectrum Dominance. Both appointments are effective immediately. The leadership changes follow Mehta’s promotion to CEO, as the company seeks to maintain momentum in its growth strategy and capital expansion plans.
L3Harris also confirmed its $3 billion capital buildout to expand solid rocket motor production and strengthen supply chains, led by Kenneth Bedingfield, President of Missile Solutions. The company emphasized its commitment to national security priorities and the delivery of mission-critical solutions across multiple domains. Mehta expressed gratitude for the opportunity and outlined plans to collaborate with senior leaders to support U.S. defense and allied needs.
