Meta is launching Digital Dialogue IRL, a free interactive experience at Temasek Shophouse in Singapore, running from 25 June to 31 July 2026. The initiative uses visual conversation cards and guided prompts to help teens, parents, and educators discuss online safety, social media habits, and digital wellbeing through real-life scenarios. Topics include screen time, cyberbullying, and healthy online-offline boundaries, aiming to educate participants about existing safety features in Teen Accounts on Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.

Teen Accounts on Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger include default protections inspired by 13+ movie ratings and parent feedback, introduced earlier this year. These settings limit teens’ exposure to age-appropriate content and require parental permission to opt out. The initiative aligns with Singapore’s Digital for Life movement and was developed with input from 304 students in pilot workshops at two secondary schools, where familiarity with safety tools increased from 52% to 71%.

Minister of State Rahayu Mahzam emphasized the need for collaboration among government, industry, schools, and families to keep young people safe online. She highlighted that initiatives like Digital Dialogue IRL encourage teens to develop judgment through honest conversations with trusted adults. Clara Koh, Meta’s Director of Public Policy for Central Southeast Asia and ASEAN, noted that pairing platform protections with open family discussions enhances digital safety.

The launch follows pilot workshops with 304 students, where guided conversations improved understanding of safety tools. Premlatha D/O Selvaraj, Vice-Principal of a secondary school under the Ministry of Education, praised the initiative for creating a safe space for students to reflect on their digital habits. Lee Kai Yang, Captain of the Singapore Men’s National Water Polo Team, shared how the principles of focus and boundaries apply both online and in sports, encouraging attendees to set limits and support one another.
