NVIDIA Open Models Power a New Wave of European Public Sector Projects
European governments and partners are deploying open AI models to modernize public services while maintaining data control, with projects spanning healthcare, employment and sovereign cloud infrastructure.
European governments are adopting open AI models to enhance public services while keeping sensitive data under their own control, allowing them to adapt systems to local languages and verify training data compliance. NVIDIA partners are collaborating with public institutions to deploy these models, including Berlin-based deepset expanding its Haystack Enterprise Platform for the European Commission’s AI@EC shared platform, which now supports agent development, cost comparison and governance. Poland’s eHealth Centre is building a medical imaging platform using NVIDIA DGX BasePOD and MONAI to analyze X-rays and scans, reducing patient wait times, while the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy develops an agentic system for labor offices using PLLuM and other models.
In the U.K., Locai Labs released Nemotron-Personas-UK, a dataset of 1 million synthetic personas reflecting demographic diversity for testing healthcare and bias evaluation across communities, while in Germany, Materna introduced Sinfonie, an on-premises platform combining generative AI, voice interaction and 3D avatars for institutional knowledge access. A sovereign cloud offering for classified data is also in development by secunet, NVIDIA, Red Hat and deepset, integrating Nemotron models, Red Hat OpenShift AI and Haystack for secure deployments in German data centers.
France’s CANUT selected LINAGORA and Docaposte to provide a sovereign collaborative workspace for over 2,500 public organizations, including municipalities and healthcare institutions, using Twake.ai with NVIDIA technology for speech transcription and French-hosted infrastructure. Greece’s KIEFER is developing an agentic factory on NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD with Sophea open models and Greek-language tools to improve institutional knowledge retrieval and digital assistants for public sector teams.
NVIDIA Open Models Codefest is supporting startups and labs across Europe to build locally controlled AI solutions for public sector challenges, with Deutsche Telekom and T-Systems providing compute infrastructure for teams developing large language models and governance tools.
