Observability’s AI Moment
Palo Alto Networks launches Cortex XCOR, an AI-native observability platform automating root-cause analysis and incident response amid surging AI-driven software development.
After a decade of building observability platforms at AWS and Uber, the founders of Chronosphere introduced Cortex XCOR, an AI-native observability platform under Palo Alto Networks. The system aims to automate issue detection and remediation, addressing long-standing challenges in cloud-native architectures. XCOR integrates AI agents capable of reasoning through complex incidents, reducing manual investigation time from 20 minutes to under three minutes on average.
The platform’s AI SRE agent autonomously investigates incidents, achieving a 75% success rate in root cause analysis in complex environments and providing useful analysis in an additional 19% of cases. This automation is powered by the XCOR Fabric, which delivers real-time operational context across applications, infrastructure, and user sessions. The system also includes XCOR RUM for full-fidelity front-end monitoring and XCOR Synthetics for proactive regression detection.
Palo Alto Networks addresses cost control with expanded consumption-based pricing and granular budgets that adjust to usage patterns, optimizing observability data by an average of 89%. The platform targets industry leaders such as OpenAI, DoorDash, and Compass, which rely on Chronosphere’s cost-efficient telemetry management. This pricing model eliminates the tradeoff between visibility and rising cloud costs.
The launch follows a major industry shift in AI reasoning capabilities, with 42% of developers now reporting that AI writes at least half their code, up from 12% last year. XCOR is designed to match this AI-coding velocity, transforming observability from static dashboards and manual processes to an AI-first experience that automates both routine and complex investigations.
