Thunder Lotus Games announced that At Fate's End, the next release from its Spiritfarer studio, has been delayed from its previously announced 2026 launch window to 2027. The studio cited the need for additional development time to ensure a smooth release, though it did not provide a specific date. The team emphasized its commitment to delivering a polished experience, noting that the delay would make the eventual launch "worth the wait."

The game will feature combat mechanics unlike its predecessor Spiritfarer, including sword duels and verbal debates with characters. Players control Shan, who wields the God Sword Aesus, as she seeks to reclaim her siblings' swords to rule as Princess of Swords. A demo released on Steam offers a preview of the combat system and character interactions, with Thunder Lotus inviting feedback via a survey.

At Fate's End was showcased at the Game Developers Conference 2026, where it stood out among demos for upcoming titles. The game blends exploration, mystery investigation, and boss fights that emphasize emotional storytelling over traditional combat. One demo boss fight required players to reconcile with a sibling rather than defeat them, reflecting the game's focus on human drama within a fantasy setting.

Thunder Lotus drew inspiration from real-world aristocratic conflicts and personal histories of its developers to craft the game's characters. Creative director Nicolas Guérin described the cast as flawed but lovable, aiming to foster empathy among players. The game is now confirmed for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X in 2027, with no announcement yet regarding a Nintendo Switch 2 version.
