Analogue Brings Back Its Perfect SNES And Sega Genesis Replacements
Analogue reintroduced upgraded versions of its Super Nt and Mega Sg retro consoles, featuring modern connectivity and compatibility with thousands of classic cartridges.
Analogue has announced refreshed versions of its Super Nt and Mega Sg retro consoles, now called the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+. These systems use FPGA technology to play original cartridges from the SNES and Sega Genesis eras, respectively, while outputting high-definition video up to 1080p. The upgrades maintain compatibility with thousands of cartridges, including regional and variant releases, ensuring broad access to classic titles. The consoles also support modern controller options, including Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity, alongside USB-C power delivery.
The Super Nt+ supports over 2,200 SNES and Super Famicom cartridges, while the Mega Sg+ handles more than 2,180 cartridges from Sega Genesis, Mega Drive, Master System, Game Gear, Mycard Adapter, and SG1000 systems. Both consoles include cartridge cleaners and are compatible with original wired controllers, as well as the Sega CD for the Mega Sg+. Additional cleaners are available for purchase from Analogue to maintain cartridge condition.
Pricing for the Super Nt+ and Mega Sg+ is set at $219.99 each, with pre-orders opening on Monday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. ET. Orders are scheduled to begin shipping in December, offering a potential holiday purchase option for retro gaming enthusiasts. Controllers are not included with the consoles, requiring users to supply their own or purchase compatible options separately.
Analogue’s new consoles emphasize practical improvements for retro gaming, such as hot-swappable cartridges and modern connectivity without altering the original hardware experience. The inclusion of cartridge cleaners reflects a focus on preserving both the consoles and the games they play, addressing a common concern for collectors.
