Cyberpunk 2077 Edgerunners 2 Update Leaked Ahead of Reveal
A leaked update for Cyberpunk 2077, tied to the new Edgerunners Season 2 anime, launches October 22 with new features, quests, and console mod support.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 premiered on Netflix this week, marking the return of the award-winning anime set in Night City. CD Projekt Red announced a major update for Cyberpunk 2077 to coincide with the new season, though the update’s full details remain under wraps. The company has a history of long-term support for its titles, including ongoing updates for The Witcher 3 since its 2020 release. Despite a troubled launch for Cyberpunk 2077 in late 2020, CD Projekt Red has since improved the game, expanding its player base and adding new content.
The upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 2.5 update, also called the Edgerunners 2 update, is scheduled for October 22 on PC and consoles. Its release follows the October 20 premiere of Edgerunners Season 2, giving players time to watch the anime before diving into the game. CD Projekt Red plans to reveal more about the update during a livestream on October 21 at 11 a.m. ET, though details have already surfaced online.
A leaked video, later removed, outlined several new features coming in the update. Console players will gain access to mods via mod.io, a feature previously unavailable on consoles. The Cool skill tree will introduce a new perk called "Double Trouble," enabling dual-wield combat with pistols and revolvers. Additionally, the update will add music from Edgerunners to an in-game radio station.
The update also expands customization options, including new cyberware features and additional hairstyles and clothing for protagonist V. Two new side quests will be added, offering fresh content for returning players. While the update’s full scope remains to be confirmed, its timing and features aim to attract both new and veteran players to Night City.
