PC gamers can finally play a beloved 2010 PS3 masterpiece
An unofficial PC port of the 2010 PS3 game God of War 3 Remastered allows Windows users to play the Greek mythology trilogy entry natively, bypassing Sony’s lack of official PC releases.
Sony recently announced plans to remake the original God of War trilogy for the PS5, while also revealing a 2D prequel, Sons of Sparta, expanding the franchise’s future. However, the Greek-era trilogy entries remain absent from PC, leaving newer fans without access to the series’ roots. An unofficial port by developer Felipe Prado now enables native Windows play, addressing this gap for players who prefer PC gaming.
The open-source project translates PS4 game files into PC-compatible instructions, supporting keyboard and mouse controls, higher frame rates, and mods. Prado’s tests show performance averaging 144 FPS at 1080p and 108 FPS at 4K on an AMD RX 6700 XT, demonstrating smooth gameplay on modern hardware.
God of War 3 Remastered follows Kratos’ vengeful quest against the gods of Olympus, originally released on PS3 in 2010 and later ported to PS4 in 2015. Players must supply their own PS4 files, as the project does not distribute the game itself, distinguishing it from emulation.
The port remains in alpha, with potential graphical issues and bugs expected. It highlights the growing reliance on fan projects for PC access to PlayStation exclusives, as Sony scales back official PC ports of its single-player titles.
