CD Projekt Red released The Witcher 3: Remastered on September 29, updating the 2015 RPG with improved graphics and system overhauls. Shortly after launch, players reported technical problems, prompting the developer to address them quickly. The first hotfix, patch 5.00b, targeted minor graphical adjustments and a DLSS issue on Xbox Play Anywhere for PC, while aligning console versions more closely with their PC counterparts. The studio acknowledged ongoing PC-specific problems and committed to further fixes.

A second hotfix, patch 5.00c, arrived hours later, focusing exclusively on PC versions across Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store, Battle.net, and Xbox Play Anywhere. It resolved two critical bugs: one that blocked saving or loading when the Documents folder path contained special characters, and another that caused voiceover audio to become inaudibly quiet after using the pause menu. CD Projekt Red confirmed both issues were now addressed and noted a console fix for the audio problem was in development.

The studio’s social media director confirmed the voiceover audio issue would also be fixed on consoles, though no release date was provided. The fixes followed immediate player feedback and reflect CD Projekt Red’s rapid response to launch-day technical challenges. The remaster’s improvements to graphics and systems were intended to modernize the 2015 title, but post-launch patches were necessary to restore intended functionality.

CD Projekt Red also outlined upcoming projects, including Songs of the Past, a new expansion for The Witcher 3 co-developed with Fool’s Theory and set for next year. The expansion will introduce a new region and match the scope of the Blood and Wine expansion. Additionally, The Witcher 4, the next mainline entry, is in development by CD Projekt Red and scheduled for 2028, with Ciri confirmed as the protagonist.
