Rainbow Six Mobile is shutting down in 2027, Ubisoft announced just months after the Android and iOS R6 game officially launched.

Ubisoft announced Thursday that Rainbow Six Mobile, a spinoff of Rainbow Six Siege designed for Android and iOS, will be discontinued in January 2027. The publisher described the shutdown as a difficult decision, noting the game will remain playable until January 15, 2027. Rainbow Six Mobile was first released in beta in September 2022 before its full international launch in February 2026. Developers confirmed the next season would still be released as scheduled next week.

Rainbow Six Mobile was marketed as a mobile adaptation of Rainbow Six Siege, rebuilt from the ground up for touchscreen devices. Ubisoft emphasized that the core gameplay, characters, and maps shared similarities with Siege but were optimized for mobile usability. The mobile version introduced a new control system and redesigned UI to accommodate shorter play sessions. Creative director Justin Swan stated the goal was to offer accessible bursts of gameplay rather than replacing PC or console play.

The original Rainbow Six Siege, released in December 2015, has accumulated over 70 million registered players and remains a top multiplayer title on Steam. Ubisoft’s mobile spinoff aimed to attract new players to the franchise while maintaining the tactical shooter’s core experience. Despite its efforts, the mobile version failed to sustain long-term engagement, prompting the shutdown decision.

Ubisoft’s announcement follows the mixed reception of Rainbow Six Extraction, a 2022 spinoff that received lukewarm reviews. The publisher plans to release another spinoff, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics, in 2027. Rainbow Six Siege continues to be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
