Wolverine Now Officially Lets Players Turn Off Its Most-Hated Feature
Players of Marvel’s Wolverine can now disable directional assist features like scent trails, reducing the game’s linearity after fan requests.
The latest patch for Marvel’s Wolverine introduces a long-awaited feature allowing players to disable directional assist options such as scent trails. These assists previously guided players toward collectibles and doors, contributing to complaints about the game’s linear design. The update responds directly to player feedback since the game’s release, with Insomniac Games initially acknowledging the request and now delivering a toggle system.
Update 1.001.006, released on Sept. 25, enables players to turn off these assists entirely through a dedicated Senses section in the gameplay settings menu. While some senses deemed essential to the story remain mandatory, players can now customize their experience by selecting which assists to disable. The patch also includes fixes for game crashes and bugs that previously trapped players or caused visual glitches.
Among the addressed issues are misaligned claws in photo mode, instances where players became stuck, and a glitchy bathroom sign that mistakenly appeared to use generative AI. These corrections aim to improve stability and visual consistency in the PlayStation 5 exclusive. The update underscores Insomniac Games’ responsiveness to community concerns.
With the new toggle system now available, players who found the game’s linearity frustrating may reconsider giving Marvel’s Wolverine another chance. The patch notes detail additional fixes and improvements, offering further incentive to revisit the title. The timing aligns with growing player interest in revisiting the game following its initial release.
