The Division developers Massive are now "the global brand" in charge of Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon, alongside a new Ubisoft dieselpunk MOBA
Ubisoft has appointed Massive Entertainment as the global brand overseeing Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, and a new dieselpunk MOBA, following a restructuring tied to Tencent’s 2025 funding.
Ubisoft announced that Massive Entertainment will now serve as the global label for Ghost Recon, Splinter Cell, and at least one original title, March of Giants, a dieselpunk MOBA. The move is part of Ubisoft’s reorganization into ‘creative houses’ following a substantial funding injection from Tencent in March 2025. Massive Entertainment will oversee development teams in Montréal, Paris, Sweden, and Toronto, consolidating creative and technological resources under one brand.
Christoph Hartmann, previously at Amazon and 2K, has been appointed general manager of Massive Entertainment. The restructuring has already led to layoffs and closures, with staff in non-Tencent-backed ‘creative houses’ facing greater risk. Earlier in 2025, Ubisoft employees staged a strike in protest of job cuts and return-to-office policy changes, though no further workforce reductions have been announced in connection with this latest shift.
Ubisoft Toronto is developing a remake of the first Splinter Cell, despite a recent 40-person staff reduction. The company has confirmed that a new Ghost Recon title is in development, though no release window has been provided. Ubisoft has also not disclosed how these changes will specifically impact ongoing projects or affected teams beyond the structural consolidation.
March of Giants, the newly announced dieselpunk MOBA, is a 4v4 game where players control giants leading thousands of computer-controlled NPCs into battle. The title has a Steam page and is accepting playtest applicants, though details about gameplay mechanics remain limited. The game’s setting and structure suggest a focus on large-scale strategic combat within a dieselpunk aesthetic.
