Executive Vice President James Choi emphasized the engineering focus on wearability, combining mobile AI with seamless connectivity within the Galaxy ecosystem. The device aims to reduce reliance on smartphones by enabling hands-free interactions through natural conversation and contextual support. Samsung described the product as an extension of its mobile AI vision rather than a replacement for existing devices.

The eyewear incorporates decades of mobile engineering expertise, with a design centered on comfort and durability. Key features include patented slim hinges, lightweight materials, and thermal management to prevent heat transfer to the user’s face. Computational design and partnerships with eyewear specialists ensured a fit tailored to individual facial structures, balancing weight distribution for all-day wearability. Samsung filed approximately 200 patents in this category, reflecting its long-term investment in the technology.

Samsung subjected the eyewear to rigorous testing, exceeding standards for both mobile devices and eyewear. Durability assessments included exposure to high temperatures, humidity, sunscreen, cosmetics, and sweat, alongside hinge and expansion tests. Despite its slim profile, the device delivers up to nine hours of active use per charge, with a charging case enabling over seven additional recharges. Performance optimization supports demanding tasks such as video recording and AI-driven applications.

Intelligent eyewear integrates a camera, microphones, and speakers to enable hands-free AI interactions, including real-time guidance and live translation. It operates as a companion to Galaxy phones and other wearables, allowing users to manage devices via Galaxy Watch or gestures. Privacy safeguards include LED indicators for recording status, automatic disabling when removed, and data protection measures that prevent user data from training AI models. Samsung positioned the device as the first step in a broader vision for wearable AI, with future iterations expected to refine the category.
