Gemini 4 Argon in Public Preview on Snowflake Cortex AI
Snowflake integrates Google’s Gemini 4 Argon into Cortex AI, enabling native reasoning and visual analysis on governed enterprise data for complex workflows.
Snowflake has introduced Gemini 4 Argon in Public Preview within Snowflake Cortex AI, allowing customers to apply Google’s latest frontier model directly to their enterprise data. The integration supports sustained reasoning across multi-step workflows, such as tracing financial discrepancies or refactoring legacy codebases. By running natively within Snowflake’s governance framework, the model avoids creating separate data pipelines or security risks. The announcement emphasizes the need for an open, multi-model strategy to address diverse business challenges without compromising data control.
Gemini 4 Argon enhances business analysis by connecting visual evidence to textual data, enabling teams to evaluate financial statements, sales charts, and campaign dashboards simultaneously. The model supports batch document synthesis, allowing operations, legal, and support teams to process thousands of unstructured records in parallel. Snowflake CoWork, CoCo, and Cortex Agents will soon expand access across supported clouds via cross-region inference. The goal is to streamline workflows while maintaining governance and security standards.
The integration aims to unlock enterprise AI value by embedding reasoning models where data already resides, governed and structured. Use cases include automating email triage, assisting clinicians with documentation, and personalizing retail experiences. Firework, a video commerce company, used Snowpark and Cortex AI to build an AI Video Assistant grounded in customer conversation data. By keeping the workflow within Snowflake, Firework reported greater efficiency and a simpler process for delivering personalized shopping experiences.
Snowflake positions the addition of Gemini 4 Argon as part of its multi-model strategy, offering customers another option to build and iterate on trusted data. Teams can access the model through Snowflake Cortex AI Functions at launch, with broader availability planned for CoWork, CoCo, and Cortex Agents. Customers are directed to the Google Cloud Partner Hub to explore capabilities and submit a form to begin using the model, with Snowflake processing personal information per its Privacy Notice.
