100-MW Michigan solar project supports Ford automotive
DTE Energy completed the 100-MW Cold Creek Solar Park in Michigan to support Ford’s renewable energy goals under DTE’s MIGreenPower program, ensuring carbon-free electricity for Ford’s Michigan vehicle production by 2027.
DTE Energy has finished building the 100-MW Cold Creek Solar Park near Coldwater, Michigan, a project designed to help Ford Motor Company meet its decarbonization targets. The solar park is part of DTE’s CleanVision MIGreenPower program, which allows customers to source clean, Michigan-made renewable energy for their operations. Ford has committed to purchasing up to 650 MW of renewable energy through this program to power its Michigan manufacturing facilities.
By the end of 2027, Ford plans to use carbon-free electricity for every vehicle produced in Michigan, aligning with its sustainability goals. DTE’s MIGreenPower initiative is accelerating the development of renewable energy projects across the state, including Cold Creek Solar Park, while generating local tax revenue and creating jobs in host communities.
Matt Paul, president and CEO of DTE Electric, highlighted the collaboration between customers and energy providers as key to advancing Michigan’s clean energy future. He emphasized that MIGreenPower helps companies like Ford meet their sustainability objectives while strengthening the state’s renewable energy infrastructure for future generations.
Ford’s Amir Mirshahi noted that Cold Creek Solar Park delivers on the company’s promise of clean, reliable energy for its Michigan operations and surrounding communities. He stated that such projects enhance grid resiliency and support local economies, reinforcing Ford’s role as a responsible corporate partner in the regions where it operates.
